Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska's 2nd District has voted in favor of the Consolidated Approps Bill, citing various reasons for his decision. Bacon expressed his concerns about the potential ramifications of a government shutdown, emphasizing the impact it could have on essential workers such as Border Patrol agents and military personnel.

Bacon highlighted the conservative victories included in the bill, such as increased funding for Border Patrol agents and overtime pay, along with provisions to support the military's efforts in countering China. He also emphasized the bill's measures to prevent the enforcement of a COVID vaccine mandate in the military, cut wasteful spending on climate change programs, and prohibit the promotion of Critical Race Theory within the military.

Furthermore, Bacon underscored the bill's support for pro-life initiatives, including maintaining the Hyde Amendment to prevent federal funds from being used for abortions and ensuring that medical professionals are not compelled to perform abortions. The bill also upholds the Dickey Amendment, which restricts the use of federal funds for advocating gun control.

Summing up his decision, Bacon stated, "In the end, this bill gave us more wins than losses which is why I supported it."
